| PABLO
ZIEGLER was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina on September 2nd
1944.
He
studied at Buenos Aires Music Conservatory where he graduated as
Piano
Professor. He continued his studies with Adrian Moreno and Galia Schaljman.
He studied composition with professors as Gerardo Gandini and Francisco
Kröpflt.
When
he was 14 years old, he began to play with different jazz groups and at
the same time until he was 18 played piano solo concerts.
Then
he created the PABLO ZIEGLER TERCETO which was dedicated in playing
classical
music with jazz arrangements done by himself and, at the same time he
wrote music such as: POLVO DE ESTRELLAS (Musical), LA NOCHE DE LOS
GRANDES (TV); ADIOS ROBERTO and TACOS ALTOS (cinema), etc.
In
1978 he joined Master ASTOR PIAZZOLLA´s quintet and started his
tournees through Europe, U.S.A., Japan, etc. playing with worldwide known
artists such as the italian singer Milva and the american Gary Burton.
In
1989 after a heart disease, Master Astor Piazzolla decided to end his
famous Quintet.
Since
then ZIEGLER started to rehearse with his "CUARTETO PARA EL NUEVO
TANGO". His debut was on May 31st, 1990 with an enormous success
among public and press.
At
the end of that year he recorded "LA CONEXIÓN PORTEÑA",
his first production as composer of New Tango for Sony Music label. The
next year he is invited to record Piazzolla´s works with the Buenos
Aires PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA conducted by Pedro Ignacio Calderón.
Afterwards they held performances at Colon theatre, in Argentina, EXPO-SEVILLA
92 in Spain etc. At the end of 1991 he is invited by Ettore Stratta, american
conductor, to play as a soloist for an album called "Symphonic Tango",
produced by Warner Teldec, U.S.A., where he also recorded a composition
of his own: "MILONGA EN EL VIENTO" with The Royal Philharmonic
Orchestra of London.
In
1992 he is invited by the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival to play some
concerts
in
New Mexico (U.S.A.) Then he performs in New Orleans where the Mayor honored
him with the title of: NEW ORLEANS CITIZEN.
When he arrived in Bs.As. the ASOCIACIÓN DE CRÍTICOS DE TEATRO
E INVESTIGADORES TEATRALES gave him the National Prize "ARLEQUIN 92"
to the best original music for theatre for the play of Harold Pinter: "Traición" At
the beginning of 1993 he was invited by the Argentine Foreign Office
to render an homage to Piazzolla in the Villalobos National Auditorium
in
Brasilia in Brazil, where he went with his Cuarteto Nuevo Tango and Nestor
Marconi (bandoneon player) as a guest. In the same year he was invited
by La Paz Mayor Office and played at the Central Bank Theatre. (Bolivia)
Later he returns with his quartet to U.S.A. playing two sessions at
Santa
Fe Chamber Music Festival, then in the Open Area Festival (Salt Lake
City) in Utah, at Minneapolis Walker Art Center (Minnesota) and records
at Saint
Paul Radio, a one hour audition that was emitted by 200 american radios.
The name of the program was "Saint Paul, Sunday Morning" At
the end of 1993, he did his first European Tour performing in Frankfurt,
Kalsrhue (Germany), Athens in Greece, The Instituto A´lla Illa
(Rome), La Fontana Theatre (Milan) in Italy; and in the United Kingdom
at Saint
Martin in the Field Cathedral (London)
In
1994 he changes his quartet and starts playing with a quintet: Piano;
Bandoneon; Electric/Acoustic guitar; Double Bass and Drum/Percussion.
With this group he does a new tour in U.S.A. performing at several Summer
Festivals such as: "Botanic Garden Summer Series" (Denver) "Ravinia
Festival" (Chicago); "Miller Amphitheatre Outdoor" (Houston)
etc. In July he is invited to the inauguration of the "Astor Piazzolla´s Auditorium where he participates of a show with artists such as Jairo, Eladia Blazquez etc. Then he travels to Mexico and performs at the University "El
Claustro de Sor Juana".
Then he is invited by The Argentine Embassy to perform in Toronto (Canada)
and he after is invited by the Leight University of Beetlehem (Pennsylvania)
to perform there.
In
1995 he performs several concerts in Argentina. He is invited to play
at "10 YEARS FESTIVAL" during two weeks at the "LUNA PARK"
to Julio Boca´s performance. He composes for him a theme for Quintet
and Symphonic Orchestra. He then invited José Angel Trelles (an
ex Piazzolla singer) and performed with him and the quintet a new show
with new compositions called "Por Amor a Buenos Aires" in Buenos
Aires (Argentina) In 1996 he is invited by "SONY CLASSICAL"
to record and arrange an album of Piazzolla´s tangos and milongas
for two pianos with the classical pianist Emanuel Ax called "LOS
TANGUEROS". Then he goes to Medellin and performs with his Quintet
in El Teatro Metropolitano and in The National Library "Luis Angel
Arango" invited by The Philharmonic Society of Bogotá in Bogotá
(Colombia), in a Music Festival called "Música y Músicos
de Latinoamérica". He after plays in a Piazzolla Tribute
at the Teatro Coliseo
in Buenos Aires. He presents his show "Por amor a Buenos Aires"
in the "Sala Villalobos del Teatro Nacional" with José
Angel Trelles and his quintet in Brasilia (Brazil). At the end of this
year he records an album with Gary Burton with Piazzolla´s music
and plays live at "Biblioteca Nacional" in Bs. As.
In
1997 he goes to New York for the presentation of his album with Emanuel
Ax "Los Tangueros" at "The Knitting Factory". He starts
a tour through U.S.A. heading his Quintet for New Tango in the following
festivals and Theatres: Smithsonian Institute, Ravinia Festival; Santa
Fé Music Hall; Dallas Museum of Art; Huntington Arts Festival;
Florida International Festival; Chautauqua Institution; Lincoln Center;
Kxci Tucson; Miller Amphitheatre Outdoor; He went to Japan in a concert
tour with Emanuel Ax including a TV shoot for NHK Japan TV. At the end
of this year Mr. Ziegler signs a contract with BMG/RCA VICTOR and becomes
an artist of this recording label.
In
1998 Mr. Ziegler is invited by The American Composers Orchestra to participate
in a one-week symposium called "MEETING BETWEEN AMERICAN COMPOSERS
AND LATINAMERICAN COMPOSERS"
He then performs at The Hispanic Theatre in Queens
(N.Y.) and at The Weill Recital Hall in Carnegie Hall (N.Y.) with two
concerts for two pianos introducing Mr. Christopher O´Riley as
his new piano partner.
The piano duet plays in GUILMORE INTERNATIONAL KEYBOARD FESTIVAL in Kalamazoo
(Pennsylvania); three concerts in THE JAZZ BAKERY in Los Angeles (California)
and at SPRING TWILIGHT CONCERT in Meadowood Napa Valley (California).
STEINWAY & SONS NEW YORK honoured him, this year, naming him STEINWAY
ARTIST. Later Mr. Ziegler plays with his quintet in CICLO DE TANGO CONTEMPORANEO
at El Centro Cultural Borges in Buenos Aires (Argentina). In July he is
invited by Gary Burton to present the album "Astor Piazzolla Reunion"
for Concord Records and travels to Europe to play in the Summer Jazz Festivals
such as: Basel concert, Zurich concert (Switzerland), Milan concert, Fano
concert, Sardinia concert (Italy) Elmau concert (Germany) Ljubljana concert
(Slovenia) Pori concert (Finland), Arhaus concert (Denmark), Vienna concert
(Austria) Istambul (Turkey) He returns to Argentina and goes to the province
of Tucumán and plays as a soloist in The Tango Symphonic Special
Concert, with The Tucumán Symphonic Orchestra in the Alberdi Theatre.
Later he is invited to the "BRIDGEHAMPTON CHAMBER MUSIC FESTIVAL".
(U.S.A.) Does the arrangements of four of Piazzolla´s works and
performs in ensemble with festival artists. Invited by Sony Classical
/ Ryota Komatzu (japanese bandoneon player) he plays two concerts in
Fukuoka,
one in Osaka and two in Tokio (Japan).
In October same year two albums are released: "ASFALTO" with
his quintet For RCA VICTOR (red seal) and "TANGO ROMANCE" with
The Orpheus Chamber Orchestra for BMG Classics. These are introduced
in
a special concert at The Argentinean Consulate in New York.
With the two pianos duet he plays at the "Center of the Arts",
"Center Stage" in El Camino College, Los Angeles (California)
at Paramount Theatre in Denver (Colorado) and at Alberta Bair Theatre
in Billings (Montana) (USA) At the end of that year he goes to Brazil
with his quintet and performs at Mistura Fina International (Rio de Janeiro),
Serie Montreal Informática de Conciertos Internacionales (Bello
Horizonte) and in San Pablo.
In
1999 he is invited by Gary Burton to record a second album with him that
hasn´t been released yet and then they perform in Santiago and
Valparaiso in Chile. Then he travels to New York to record his third
album for BMG/RCAVICTOR
with his quintet and the american saxophone player Joe Lovano as a special
guest; which will be released in October 1999.
He then plays with the piano duet in the Santo Domingo Festival (República
Dominicana), at Richmond University (Virginia), at The Emelin Theatre
in Mamaroneck (NY) and at Fairfield University (Connecticut)
On April 6th Mr. Ziegler participates in a special concert "Tango
Magic" as a performer and Musical Director at CARNEGIE HALL with
his quintet for New Tango, and special guests such as The Orpheus Chamber
Orchestra, Gary Burton, Ryota Komatsu, and Argentinean singers: Maria
Graña and J.A.Trelles. Then they do a Video shoot for the New
York Public Television about that concert. (both, were produced by Pat Phillips and Ettore Stratta). Back in Argentina he participates
as a guest for Sony Classical/Marcelo Alvarez (classical tenor) in the
recording of an album.
On May 29th he is invited to participate in "Música de las
Américas" for THE SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTION which takes place
in Washington (USA) where he is honored for his contribution for the evolution
of Tango with a bronze plaque. Later he plays with his Quintet for New
Tango in "The Friburgo Winter Festival" in New Friburgo (Brazil).
He then returns to The States to promote the video "TANGO MAGIC" and
his last CD PABLO ZIEGLER QUINTET FOR NEW TANGO, which will be shown
by television through all The United States and performed alive with
his
Quintet giving interviews by Channel Thirteen (PBS).
On October ZIEGLER plays with his Quintet in Jazz Alley in Seattle, Washington
and in The UNIVERSITY OF SANTA CRUZ in Santa Cruz, California (USA).
In November he returns to Buenos Aires to present with his Quintet his
new CD PABLO ZIEGLER QUINTET FOR NEW TANGO in Notorious CD Bar. He participates
in "The Buenos Aires Tango 2000 Festival" with his Quintet,
playing in "El Auditorio del Centro Cultural Recoleta".
In
January 2000 he travels to Sydney (Australia) to play and conduct "The
Sydney Symphonic Orchestra" a selection of his CD "Tango Romance"
in a musical show together with the argentine choreografer Miguel Angel
Zotto in "The Sydney Opera House Concert Hall". He then travels
to The States to play his piano duet "Los Tangueros" with Christopher
O´Riley at The Temple Theater in Tacoma and at The Meydenbauer Theater
in Seattle (Washington) and at The Spivey Hall in Clayton College & State
University in Morrow in Atlanta (Georgia).
In
March same year he gives three Master Classes in The Graduate Center
of
The City University of New York (CUNY) ending with a concert with his
Quintet for New Tango. Later as part of The Festival “Celebrate Buenos
Aires” He performs with his Quintet in the Winter Garden (World Financial
Center).
In
April he starts a tour through Europe with “The New Tango Duo” together
with Quique Sinesi (guitar) and Walter Castro (bandoneón) as a guest.
They
play in Graz, Vienna and Innsbruck (Austria), in Bologna and Ciampino
(Italy), in Aarhus and Copenhagen (Denmark), In Zurich and Basel
(Switzerland)
and in München, Dresden, Magdeburg, Bonn and Berlin (Germany).
In
June ZIEGLER participates of
the 28th Annual JVC
JAZZ FESTIVAL-NEW YORK. playing
at Carnegie Hall on June 17th in Tango “Passion & Swing” starring
the show with his Quintet for New Tango with Joe Lovano, Gary Burton and
Paquito D´Rivera, as his guests, Julia Zenko from Argentina and Dancers
from Forever Tango shared
the show. (Invited by Pat Phillips and Ettore Stratta who produced this mayor event).
He later plays in Yale University and in Connecticut College
New
London in The International Festival of Arts and Ideas, and then travels
to Japan to play six concerts in Tokyo with his Quintet. In New Hampshire
he plays with “The North Country Chamber Players” and then in August participates
with his Quintet in The Verbier Festival in Switzerland. Comes back to
Argentina and is invited by Paquito D´Rivera to play in The Colon Theatre.
(Piano and clarinet). In September he plays with The Royal Philharmonic
Orchestra of London in San Pablo (Brazil). Returns to Argentina and participates
with his quintet in the “First International Jazz Festival de los Siete
Lagos” in Bariloche. He then gives two concerts at “El Centro Cultural
San Martín”, plays in “La Universidad de C. Empresariales y Sociales”
and in “Radio Nacional”, always with his Quintet. He then presents for
the first time in Argentina “New
Tango Sessions” with a trio (piano, guitar and bandoneon) in Opera Prima
at “El Paseo La Plaza”.
Ending
the year Ziegler performs at The Umbria Jazz Winter Festival, which takes
place in Orvieto (Italy) and features two nights with his Quintet and
three guests: Paquito D´Rivera, Joe Lovano and Richard Galliano.
One night with his trio and Paquito D´Rivera and one night only his
trio.
He
starts 2001 playing in The International Jazz Festival of Punta del Este
at "The Tambo El Sosiego" (Uruguay) with his quintet and three
guests: Paquito D´Rivera, Joe Lovano and Dave Samuels in vibraphone.
On January 13 he plays with his piano duet at Southern Theater in Columbus,
Ohio (USA) then he plays with his Quintet on the 19 at The Cullen Theater,
Wortham Theater Center in Houston, Texas and on the 20th in
the Hogg Auditorium of The University of Texas in Austin, Texas (USA)
On the 26th the Piano duet plays at The Connecticut College
Auditorium in New London and on February 2nd he plays with
his Quintet in The Auditorium of the University of Maryland.
He
then travels to Sydney, Australia where he conducts and plays three concerts
with the soloists of The Sydney Symphonic Orchestra at "The Sydney
Opera House Concert Hall". He then is invited to participate with
his quintet in "The Buenos Aires Tango Festival " on March
4th
and plays in The Terrace of the Centro Cultural Recoleta in Buenos Aires
(Argentina).
On
March 15 and 16 Ziegler plays with the Stavanger Symphonic Orchestra
in "The Stavanger Concert Hall", in Bjergsted Music Center
in Stavanger, Norway.
At
the end of the month he starts a tour with The New Tango Duo with Quique
Sinesi and Walter Castro as a guest by several cities in Europe such
as: "Jazzhouse" in Copenhagen, (Denmark) "Musikföreningen Piektrum"
in Lund and "Nefertiti" in Göteborg (Sweden) "Alter Schiachthof"
in Soest, "Passionskirche" in Berlin, "Waschhaus"
in Potsdam, "Domicil" in Dortmund, "Hotel Bayerischer Hof-Night
Club" in München and "Karistorbahnohof" in Heidelberg (Germany)
"Moods im Schiffbau" in Zurich (Switzerland), "Printemps
Musical Festival de Luxembourg " (Luxemburg), "Scen Wien"
in Wien, (Austria) and "Teatro Sociale" in Cremona (Italy).
On
July he is invited to play in Buenos Aires as guest of Cecilia Rosetto´s
show called "Rojotango" in three opportunities. Then in August,
Friday 13 and 20th he plays with his "New Tango Trio" at "Tobago
Cigar & Arts Cafe".
On
August he leaves to Chicago, Illinois where he performs with his piano
duet at Ravinia Festival on the 9th and then participates of "From
the Top" by radio.
September
finds him in Denmark performing three concerts as a guest of Mads Vinding
and Martin Andersen (Doublebase and drums) with music of his own at Musikcafeen
in Arhus, at Gjehset in Frederiksvaerk and at Byggrietshus in Frb. Then
he gives workshops, one at Rhyehmic Copenhagen Conservatory and another
one at Arhus Conservatory. Then invited by Erling Kroner Dream Quintet
he plays with them at Jazzhus Dexter, in Odense, at Holbaek Jazzklub in
Holbaek, at Copenhagen Jazzhouse in Copenhagen and at Baltoppen in Ballerup.
He
returns to Argentina and presents himself in Buenos Aires at the VIP
of the Restaurant "Cabaña Las Lilas" in Puerto Madero.
And in October travels to New York where he records a CD with Mezzosoprano
Denyce Graves does the arrangements, directs and plays three songs
of
Carlos Guastavino and three of Astor Piazzolla. Then he plays with his
new trio Satoshi Takeishi in Drums and Pablo Aslan in Doublebass giving
three Concerts at the Argentinean Consulate in New York.
He
then travels to Israel performing with his Quintet at "The Rappaport
Hall" in Haifa, at "The Opera House Performing Center in Tel-Aviv,
and at "The Jerusalem Theatre in Jerusalem.
He returns to Buenos Aires to perform with his New Tango Trio (piano,
bandoneon and guitar) at Notorius in what was called "Música
Notoria" on December ,Friday 6th and Saturday 7th. And at the end
of the year he makes his debut with his new formation The Pablo Ziegler
Trio (Piano, Double Bass and Drums) at Tobago on Saturday 15th and 29th
December.
In 2002 Ziegler plays with his Quintet in USA at Joe´s Pub (Public
Theatre) in New York, at UCLA (Royce Hall) in Los Angeles, California,
and at Ithaca College (Ford Hall) in New York. He then goes to Argentina
to participate of the 4th Tango Festival held in Buenos Aires were he
plays for the first time with his three formations, (two trios and the
Quintet) at The Teatro Presidente Alvear. He then starts a tour with
his
New Tango Trio through Potsdam, Berlin, Munich, Heidelberg, Puchheim,
Neuburg, Frankfurt and Bonn (Germany) and through Graz and Salzburg in
Austria. Then with his Quintet gives a concert as a part of the New World
Symphony Festival Piazzolla at The Lincoln Theatre in Miami Beach (USA).
Travels to Korea and gives two concerts in Seoul with his Quintet at The
Seoul Arts Center and at The Hyundai Motors Art Hall.
He
travels to Italy in the month of May for rehearsals and Presentations
at Ravenna Festival (Alighieri Theatre) Three Performances of "Operita
María de Buenos Aires as Maestro Concertatore and Musical Director
on June 13, 14 and 15. Also at the Teatro Comunale de Bologna on June
18th, 19th, 20th, 21st, 23rd, 26th and 28th with the same Play. After
these succesful shows he starts a tour with his Quintet on June 30th
by
Schauspielhaus in Zurich, Switzerland, then in July at Kassel Kulturzelt,
and Kiel Jazzbaltica, both in Germany, then he presents himself at Jazz
house (Copenhagen Jazz Festival) in Denmark, then at (Jutters Festival)
in wijk Aan Zee in Holland, at the London Tate Modern in London England,
at the Klaversommer in Munich and at the (Jena Festival) , both in Germany.
In
August he travels to The States and plays in the Summer Festival: "Music
in the White Mountains" in New Hampshire with the "North Country
Chamber Players" and Branford Marsalis, sax." Later he plays
in Hot Springs , Virginia, at the "Chamber Music Festival" with
a Quintet (Piano, bandoneon, doublebass, violin and cello.
He comes back to Buenos Aires, Argentina and presents himself with his
Quintet at "El Argentino" (sold out) and later at the Hindu
Club Theater with great success.
In December he leaves to New York where he presents himself in one of
the most important Jazz Clubs in Manhattan "Jazz Standard" in
"Tango meets Jazz" with his group and two marvelous guests:
Paquito D´Rivera and James Carter.
He starts 2003, playing at the International Jazz Festival of Lapataia,
in Punta del Este, Uruguay with his quartet and guests Paquito D´Rivera
and Brenda Felliciano. He then comes back to Buenos Aires and takes part
of the Buenos Aires Tango Festival at Teatro Metropolitan in Argentina
and then travels to England , with his quintet and plays at the Piano
2003 Bridgewater Hall in Manchester. After that he starts a promotion
tour for his new CD "BAJO CERO" with Quique Sinesi and Walter
Castro as a guest through Berlin, Potsdam, Bielefeld, Kóln, Núrnberg,
Munchen, Saalfelden, Manheim, Karlsruhe and Frankfurt in Germany, in Vienna,
Austria and in Zürich, Switzerland.
Returns
to Argentina and gives a Concert in Rosario, (Santa Fe) with the Municipal
Chamber Orchestra of Rosario at the Theatre "El Círculo".
He then travels to USA and presents himself with Tango meets Jazz in Boston,
with his Quartet and Dave Samuels,(vibraphone) as guest at the Isabella
Stewart Gardner Museum. Then at the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival as
Soloist and Musical Conductor in Connecticut. And at the Bridgehampton
Chamber Music Festival (Soloist and Musical Conductor). Returns to Argentina
and with his New Tango Trio plays at the Buenos Aires University, School
of Law, then at Gandhi with Armando de la Vega (duet) and later with José
Ángel Trelles (duet).
He
then starts a new tour with the trio with Quique Sinesi and Walter Castro
through , Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht and Groningen ( Holland), in Antwerpen
( Belgium) , Koln ( Germany) and Bern ( Switzerland) and then in Asia
in Seul, (Korea) with the Seul Philharmonic Orchestra.
Later he presents himself with his Quartet at Jazz Standard New York (USA)
with three special guests, in Tango meets Jazz with Dave Samuels,(vibes)
Gil Goldstein (accordion) and Randy Brecker (trumpet). Then travels to
Mexico and plays two concerts at DF with the former Piazzolla Quintet
and The Philharmonic Orchestra of Mexico.
2004
Tour through The Netherlands as Musical Conductor with
the Operita "Maria de Buenos Aires" written by Piazzolla and
Ferrer, in Veenendaal, two in Den Haag , one of those concerts for the
Royal Dutch Family, Gouda, Utrecht, Bergen op Zoom, Amsterdam, Hengelo,
Venray, Maastricht, Hoogeveen, Tilburg, Rotterdam, Hasselt (Belgie),
Groningen
Drachten, Eindhoven, Weert, Arnhem and in the Spring Festival in Budapest,(Hungary)
Later in Buenos Aires, Argentina he is interviewed at
Fundación Konex by the music critic Antonio Rapallo, about his
ideas between Tango and Jazz.
On
June a new work by Pablo Ziegler called "Places" was
presented at Corsham Festival in Great Britain, commissioned by this
Festival and played by "Tango Siempre" which has developed
a reputation as the UK´s leading tango ensemble. The film 18-J
had its premiere on July where 10 stories , 10 directors and 10 Producing
Agencies made this film in a tribute to the victims of the bombing of
the AMIA 10 years ago in Buenos Aires. In the story "Shame" directed
by Alejandro Doria, script by Aida Bornik produced by Patagonik Film
Group and with the actress Susu Pegoraro, the music "Balada para
mi muerte" by Piazzolla was played by Pablo Ziegler.
Then
Ziegler plays 5 concerts with his three trios at La Revuelta , he then
is part
of The Tribute to Paquito D´Rivera for his 50 years with the
music at The Colon Theatre , and later he performs with his quintet
at The Regio Theatre as part of the II International Tango Festival
, then with his trio plays at YMCA and at The Golden Jack.
He
also gives three concerts at Notorious CD’s Bar in September
and in October he presents his last CD "Bajo Cero" together
with Quique Sinesi, and Walter Castro edited for Argentina and South
America by MDR Records at Notorious CD’s Bar.
In November he travels to Europe with his trio and plays at "Waschaus",
Potsdam, "Bayerischer Hof", Munich, and at "Palais in
der Kulturbrauerei", Berlin, (Germany), "Merjeriet",
Lund, (Sweden), "Copenhagen Jazz House "(Denmark) and a TV show in
Ljubljana, (Slovenia) and is invited to play as a guest
by the Richard Galliano Septet at "Teatro Municipal de Tourcoing" in
The Tourcoing Jazz Festival in France.
In
December he ends the year playing 10 concerts with his quartet at Jazz
Standard with two guests,
Stefon Harris (vibes) in 5 concerts and David Sánchez (sax)
in the other five. New York (USA)
2005
- APAP showcase with his trio at the Thalia Theatre at the
Symphony Space, in Broadway, New York and later plays as guest of
Paquito D´Rivera´s Tribute at Carnegie Hall, NY (USA).
Then

April he travels to South Korea and plays with his trio, at LG Arts

, Seoul and with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra at Jeongsimwha
Hall, Chungnam Univ. In Daejeon and at Daegu Opera House, in Daegu.
Later he travels to New York and plays with the Orpheus Chamber
Orchestra and Branford Marsalis at The Metropolitan Club.
In
May he gives 4 concerts at La Revuelta Jazz Club, with his trio, in
Buenos
Aires, and then he plays as soloist, with the Rosario Chamber Orchestra
with Fernando Ciraolo as Conductor, at Teatro "El Círculo" in
Rosario, Santa Fe, Argentina.June finds him in New York playing four
concerts with his Quartet at the famous Blue Note Jazz Club, with Edmar
Castañeda (harp) as a guest in the last tune.
Later he gives a concert in
SADEM in Buenos Aires, then travels to Spain to take part of the famous
Grec Festival of Barcelona.
Then as a guest of Quique Sinesi´s new CD, he plays at the Presidente
Alvear Theatre in Buenos Aires. In August the CD "Bajo Cero" gets
a nomination for the Latin Grammy Awards for Best Tango Album. He
makes a TV show for Cablevisión in Buenos Aires, and then travels to
Córdoba, to play at the Libertador Theatre with the Symphonic
Band of the province of Cordoba in Argentina with Hadrian Avila as Conductor.
Later he is invited to play by Jairo at the Coliseo Theatre in Buenos Aires in two concerts, and then he gives 6 concerts at La Revuelta Jazz Club with his trio. On November 3rd he wins the Grammy Award for his CD "Bajo Cero"After that he plays with his trio at The Walton Center, in Fayetteville, Arkansas, USA, and ends the year with 10 concerts at Jazz Standard in New York with his quartet with his program "Tango meets Jazz" with guests (2 concerts with Edmar Castañeda, 3 concerts with Harry Allen, and 5 with Kenny Garret).
2006 Pablo Ziegler together with Christopher O´Riley performs three concerts (Piano Duo) at Sydney Festival, two at City Recital Hall , Angel Place in Sydney and one at Riverside Theatre, in Parramata, Australia.Then with his trio plays at the Music Center Recital Hall, University of California, Santa Cruz, California, The American Theatre, in Hampton, Virginia and at the Autpost Performance Space and at Chamber Music, both in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA. Later plays as soloist in three concerts with the Orchestra Sinfónica da USP, at the Auditorium Ibirapuera, in San Pablo, Brazil. He travels to The States and performs with his Quartet, and special guest, Dave Samuels at The Savannah Music Festival, Orleans Hall, in Georgia, Later he starts his European tour with Quique Sinesi, and guest Walter Castro, at Half Note, in Athens, (Greece), Brotfabrick, Frankfurt; Jazz Club, Hannover; Karlsruhe, Tempel; Staatsschaspiel, Kleines Haus, Dresden; in (Germany) Porgy & Bess, Vienna; Kultur Café Ideal, Fulda in (Austria), Mixmusic, in Malmo, (Sweden) and Bimhuis in Amsterdam (The Netherlands) Where he records a new CD live for "Saphrane Records" a Dutch label.
He then leads a nine - piece orchestra from the Piano at The Andover Chamber Music Series in Old Town Hall , Andover in Massachusetts (USA) and later plays two concerts with the Symphonic Band of Córdoba at Teatro Libertador in Córdoba, Argentina, then he plays as soloist with the Symphonic Band of Estado de Sao Pablo at Teatro Sergio Cardoso, in San Pablo in Brazil. Then back in USA plays with his quartet at the Cape May Music Festival in New Jersey , at The Regatta Bar in Boston with Richard Galliano. And with the North Country Chamber Players in New Hampshire.
Later he plays at The Blue Note with his quartet and David Sanchez as his guest, and then he participates with his trio at the San Francisco Jazz Festival with great success. Ending the year he performs at Jazz Standard two days with his quartet and guest David Sanchez , and two days with guest Néstor Torres . And in Buenos Aires, Argentina plays two concerts at Notorious CD Bar, with Hector del Curto and Jisoo Ok in cello.
2007 He performs at the IV Festival Necochea Bosque Jazz - Anfiteatro del Parque Lillo, Buenos Aires, Argentina with his trio, then he plays two days at Notorious CD Bar, with Quique Sinesi and Guest Walter Castro, ending his stay in Argentina with his trio at the IX Buenos Aires Tango Festival in La Rural.
Then he starts his European tour, with Quique Sinesi and guest Walter Castro through Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Luxemburg, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden and Norway.
Then travels to the States where he gives a concert with his Quintet and Claudia Acuña as his guest, in Ann Arbor, University of Michigan, then for 8 days he is in Residence in Bloomington at the University of Indiana, the he goes to The University of Texas, in Austin, where he is in residence, and also gives a concert there with his Quintet and Acuña as his guest and later with this same format he presents himself at Weber State University inSalt Lake City, Utah.
Then travels to Brazil, giving two concerts for the Poject “Musica do Pan” in Rio de Janeiro with his trio.
Then back to the States, where he is part of the Aspen Music Festival (USA) with his trio and back to Brazil, for two concerts, this time in San Pablo.
He returs to Argentina and presents his new CD “Buenos Aires Report” at Notorious CD Bar, together with Sinesi and Castro in two concerts.
Then travels to The States and with his quartet and Claudia Acuña as his guest, plays at the Unison arts Centre, Julian J. Studley Theater in New Paltz – New York.
Later with the same group he gives a concert at The Clarice Smith Center, at the Ina and Jack Kay Theatre in the University of Maryland, Washington DC and also does a residence in the same University.
Then with his program Tango meets Jazz, he gives 5 concerts with his Quartet with Néstor Torres (flute) as his guest at Jazz Standard, New York and another 5 concerts this time with Terell Stafford (trumpet) in the same place.
Ending his performances for this year in The States, plays a concert with his trio at the Kimmel Center, at the Perelman Theater in Philadelphia. And finishing 2007 with four presentations at Notorious CD Bar, with Sinesi and Castro in Buenos Aires Argentina, all sold out.
2008 He starts playing at the Edison Theatre - the Washington University in St. Louis – USA, with his quintet and special guest Claudia Acuña. Then he plays as a guest of Eternal Tango at Jazz Standard. Travels to Iowa and does a workshop at the Iowa University and plays at the Hancher Auditorium with his quintet and special guest C. Acuña. He later travels to Argentina where he plays with his trio at the Museo de la Reconquista in Tigre, Buenos Aires Province. Then plays 4 concerts at Notorious CD Bar with the same trio. He then travels to The States where he plays at the Rogers Theatre, (Gallo Arts Centre) in Modesto , California with his quintet and guest C. Acuña. Then in Europe, playing with Quique Sinesi and W. Castro, at IS Sanat Istambul Hall, Istambul, Turkey, at the Bimhuis in Amsterdam and at Vredemburg in Utrecht both in Holland, and at Romanfabrik in Fankfurt and at Bayerischer Hof in Munich, both in Germany. Later in May he gives a concert with his trio at the Theatre Palace of Fine arts in the San Francisco Jazz Festival, Spring season – California and also plays at The Terry Williams Theatre in The Guilmore International Festival in West Michigan University, Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA. That same month travels to Argentina and gives two concerts at the Jazz Voyeur, Hotel Meliá Recoleta, in Buenos Aires with his Jazz tango trio, Mono Hurtado doublebass, and Horacio López, drums /percusion.
Then back in the States he gives a concert at the ·Oregon Bach Festival” with his trio playing at the Jacqua Concert Hall, Shad Institute, in Eugene, Oregon – USA. And later another concert at the “Vermont Mozart Festival” in Kingsland Bay, in Vermont-USA.
He later comes back to Argentina, gives two concerts with his jazz Tango Trio with Hurtado and López at Jazz Voyeur, Hotel Melia Recoleta, Buenos Aires, and then with his other trio at the Teatro Municipal, in Rio Cuarto, Córdoba – Argentina.
In October he starts a new tour with Sinesi and Castro to Europe, playing in Appenzell (Switzerland), Potsdam (Germany) Dunkers in Helsingborg and Nefertiti in Goteborg (Sweden) Cosmopolite in Oslo (Norway) and at the Nuevo Mundo Festival at Manggha Cultural Center and at the Karol Szymanowski Philharmonic Hall in duo with Kevin Kenner, both in Kracow (Poland).
Then he travels to the States to play with his trio at the Miami Festival , the Gusman Theatre, at the Miami University. Then leaves to Mexico , where he gives three masterclasses at the Conservatorio de las Rosas, and then gives a concert with his trio in the Festival de Morelia , in Michoacan, Mexico.
Later back in the States , gives a concert at the Rutgers University in New Jersey, and also a Masterclass. Then in New York plays 6 concerts with his Quartet and special guest James Carter, and two concerts, with guest Joe Locke at Jazz Standard, all for the series “Tango meets Jazz”. Ending the year playing in Buenos Aires with Sinesi and Castro at Jazz Voyeur , Hotel Meliá Recoleta in Argentina.
2009 He starts the year playing in The States with his trio at the recital hall at the Northeast Illinois University in Chicago. Then goes to Charlotte in South Carolina, where he plays with the Charleston Symphony with Scott Terrel as conductor, and also plays with his trio. The Post Courier of Charleston said: The SRO audience gave a standing ovation, providing a successful conclusion to the most successful "Pops" concerto of the season, and hopefully leading to a return next year.
Later travels to San Francisco , California and with his Quartet and guest Nestor Torres plays with the program Tango meets Jazz, at the Herbst Theatre for the Fujitsu Jazz Festival with great success.
Then he travels to Europe and plays at the Muziekgebouw with the Metropol Orchestra and his trio in Amsterdam , the Netherlands. Goes back to The States and at the Steinway Piano Gallery, in Coral Gables gives two days of workshops and later he presents a special program of his own music played by different ensambles at the Lincoln Theatre at the Miami International Piano Festival, Discovery Series in Miami, Florida.
The press said: Ziegler gave a dizzying demonstration of pianistic bravura, joined by a first rate group of collaborative musicians
He then travels to Argentina were he plays with the ex Piazzolla Quintet and Gary Burton at the Teatro Argentino de La Plata , Buenos Aires. They also repeat this at the Teatro Broadway in Rosario, Santa Fe, and at the Teatro Gran Rex, in Buenos Aires. Then with the Orquesta de Cámara de Rosario, with Fernando Ciraolo as Director, he plays as soloist at the Teatro El Círculo, Rosario, Santa Fe, and going on with his tour now with his trio and Julio Botti as guest he plays at the Biblioteca Rivadavia in Cañada de Gómez, Santa Fe, at the Conservatorio Superior de Música “Gilardo Gilardi”, in Bell Ville, Córdoba, and ends with his program, “Tango y más” at the Teatro Libertador in Córdoba together with the Orquesta de Cuerdas Municipal de Córdoba with Hadrián Avila Arzuza as Director.
Goes back to The States, and plays with his trio at the Detroit Institute of the Arts in Detroit, Michigan. Then travels to Canada and plays at the Ottawa International Jazz Festival in Ottawa , Ontario. Returns to USA and plays at the Belleayre Music Festival in Highmount NY and afterwards goes back to Southamerica to play Solo Piano for the Proyect “Piano na praca” promoted by the Secretaria Municipal de Cultura de San Pablo in San Pablo, Brazil. Goes back to The United States and gives a concert at the University of Nevada , Reno, and later travels to New Hampshire and plays at the Colonial Theatre in Bethlehem.
Then travels to Athens, Greece and plays for one week together with Q. Sinesi and W. Castro at the “Half Note Jazz Club” all sold out and then plays in Seoul, Korea, at the Mac Jazz Festival at the Mapo Arts Centre.
He then travels with his Quintet and plays at the XXIII Festival Internacional de Música de Macau in Macau, China.
Then he returns to The States and plays with his Quartet and special guest Néstor Torres at The Lied Center for Performing Arts in Lincoln, Nebraska. And ends the year playing as usual at Jazz Standard, New York, five concerts with his quartet and Miguel Zenón as guest and five other concerts with David Sánchez as guest with incredible success.
2010 finds Pablo in Buenos Aires, Argentina, playing at "Notorious" with his Chamber Tango Trio, with Hector Del Curto and Jisoo Ok. Then he leaves to play with his New Tango Trio at the "Ruth Taylor Recital Hall" in Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, USA. He then plays at a private concert with his classical quartet at the "Diplomat Hotel" in Holywood, Florida, USA. In March plays at the “CSO Konser Salonu” as guest of the Presidencial Symphony Orchestra of Turkey, in Ankara, Turkey. Later he is in residency for five days at the “Jacobs School of Music, Latin American Music Center in Bloomington, Indiana, USA. Also a public masterclass at "Crawford Hall", also in Bloomington, and ending in a concert together with the Latin american Popular Ensamble, LAPME, and guests at the “Auer Concert Hall" in Indiana, USA. Later he starts a tour through Europe , together with Quique Sinesi and guest Walter Castro by “Nasjonal Jazzscene”, (Victoria) Oslo, “Dokkhuset”, Trodheim, both in Norway. At “Nefertiti” Gothenburg, Sweden. Also at “Bayerischer Hof” in Munich and at “Altes Pfandhaus” in Cologne, “Cafe Ideal”, in Fulda, Hesse, at “Rolf Liebermann Saal”, NDR, in Hamburg, Germany. Also in “Kulturfabrik” in Esch-sur-Alzette in Luxemburg and at “Porgy & Bess, in Vienna and “Treibhaus” in Innsbruck, both in Austria. Ending the month playing at the “Temporada Alfa Romeo of World Music 2010” with his trio , Ragazzi and Del Curto, at the Theatre “Roberto Arias Pérez de Colsubsidio, in Bogotá, Colombia. In May he gives some masterclasses with lectures and demonstrations at “Milby High School” at “MacArthur Senior High School and at the "University of Houston", Department of Hispanic Studies, in Houston, Texas. And he gives a concert with his quintet and special guest Claudia Acuña at the Miller Outdoor Theatre in Houston , Texas, USA. He ends this month playing for the bicentennial of Argentina at the Museo de la Civilización, with his Quintet , invited by the Argentinian Embassy in Ottawa, Canada.
Then he dedicates his time in preparing a new CD for Sony, this time with Orchestra and the baritone Edwin Schrott, who is considered to be one of the most exciting opera singers of today.
In July this CD is recorded and will come to life next year.
Later he plays with his trio at the Chamber Music Festival in Leavenworth, Washington, USA, and after that, together with Maya Beiser (cello) plays with this new duet at the Mark O´connor String Camp, at the Society for Ethical Culture Concert Hall in New York – USA . Then travels with his trio and for the Western Jazz Society, plays at the Diana Wortham Theatre, in Asheville, North Carolina, USA. After that, this time with his classical Quartet, participates of the Beaches Fine Arts Series, at the St. Paul´s by the Sea Episcopal Church in Jacksonville Beach, Florida – USA
Then as soloist of the Jazz Sinfonica Orchestra, for two concerts at Teatro Ibirapuera, with great success with his arrangements and his own tunes, in San Pablo – Brazil
In October with his duet with Maya Beiser plays at the Radio in New York (WANYC)Public Radio – NYC – USA
Then he travels with his trio to Huntington, to the Marshal Artists Series, at the Joan C. Edwards Performing Arts Center in West Virginia- USA. Goes back to New York and plays together with Maya Beiser at the PS321 Auditorium in Park Slope, Brooklyn, New York - USA. Then gives a private concert of solo piano, at the Maison Paul Bocuse, in Shibuva, Daikanyama, Tokyo – Japan
In December plays 5 concerts with his Quartet and guest Branford Marsalis and another 5 concerts with guest Regina Carter, both at Jazz Standard, in New York, USA. And ending this year in Buenos Aires, he plays with his trio Walter Castro, bandoneon and Armando de la Vega, guitar, at El Centro Cultural Torcuato Tasso – San Telmo – Buenos Aires - Argentina
2011 He starts playing with his trio, Del Curto and Ragazzi, at “The Brooks Center for the Performing Arts”, Clemson University, South Carolina - USA. He then travels to give some Master Classes, and be part of the jury of the Nihon Piano Competition, in Tokyo – Japan. Later travels especially to play six concerts with his trio, Walter Castro and Armando de la Vega, in homage to the 90th birthday of Astor Piazzolla at “El Centro Cultural Torcuato Tasso” in San Telmo, Buenos Aires, Argentina, with great success. In April goes back to The United States and plays with his quartet Del Curto, Ragazzi ,Giraudo,and special guest Nestor Torres at Westport Arts Center in Connecticut – USA. Then he presents his progam “Beyond Tango” that starts with two pianos progressing into trio, quartet, quintet ending in a larger ensemble of 12 musicians. This was presented first at Symphony Space at the Peter Jay Sharp Theatre in New York – USA, and later at the Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts – Jackson Hall Standard in Sacramento – California – USA . Then he travels to Japan were he gives Lecture Series, the first one with guest Toshiyuki Muranaka (cello) at the NHK Cultural Center in the Yokohama Landmark Tour School in Yokohama -Japan. The second one, with a solo piano concert and a talk show at the Nagoya University in Aichi – Japan. And in the 5/Rhall & Gallery repeats it but this time with guest Satoshi Kitamura (bandoneon) in Aichi – Japan. Then he gives a work shop with guest Jun Hayaakawa (bandoneon) at the Tokyo College of Music in Ikebukuro – Tokyo – Japan. And he ends his tour playing with the Tokyo Jazz Tango Ensamble, with Satoshi Kitamura, bandoneon, Natsuki Kido, guitar and Toru Nishijima, doublebass at Hamarikyu Asahi Hall in Tsukiji – Tokyo – Japan
He later travels to The States were he plays 5 concerts with his classical Quartet (Jisoo Ok, Del Curto and Giraudo) with guest Sandra Luna at Birdland in New York. Then he presents for the first time his new work “Four Seasons in Buenos Aires” with the North Country Chamber Players at The White Mountain Music Festival in Vermont and New Hampshire. He then starts a tour by Europe with Quique Sinesi and guest Walter Castro and plays at Bimhuis in The Netherlands, at Romanfabrik in Frankfurt, at Sendesaal in Bremen, at Balloni Hallen in Cologne, at Jazz Club A Trane in Berlin, at Bunker-Kreuzstrafle O in Bielefeld, at Jazzclub Unterfahrt in Munich all these in Germany and at Espace Senghor in Bruxelles, Belgium.
Then he records a new CD w/ Quique Sinesi and Walter Castro at Hansahaus Studios in Bonn, Germany
He then returns to Japan and starts with lecture concert Series, “Discover the secret about New Tango” with guest Satoshi Kitamura (bandoneon) at NHK Culture Centre, Hollywood Hall , Roppongi, Tokyo and at Tiempo Hall in Fukuoka . Then he continues with “Pablo Ziegler talks about his Art and Life” with guest Mitsumasa Saito ( Music Critic) at Cafe y Libros in Meguro, and then with “ The Musical Evening with Pablo Ziegler” guest Toshiyuki Muranaka Cello, at the Kubota Itchku Museum in Kawaguchi-Ko, in Yamanashi.
Goes back to the US and gives a solo concert with guest H. Del Curto in some tunes at Bargemusic in New York. Then with Paquito D´Rivera celebrates the music of Piazzolla with two concerts at the "Rose Theatre" at Lincoln Centre New York . In December with his Quartet ( Giraudo, Del Curto and Ragazzi)gives 5 concerts with Joe Locke (vibraphone) as guest and 5 concerts with Regina Carter (violin) as guest, all of them at Jazz Standard , New York.
And ends the year going back to Argentina to give only one concert with his trio (De la Vega and Castro)at Café Vinilo , Palermo, Buenos Aires.
